SWEG web: http://www.electronicgovernment.se/sweg2010/ You are invited to submit a contribution for presentation and discussion at the SWEG 2010 workshop to be held at Örebro University, Örebro, Sweden on January 27-28. 2010. IMPORTANT DATES: - Submissions due: December 15, 2009 - Acceptance Notification: January 10, 2010 (pre-notification possible on request if necessary for funding of trip) WORKSHOP OBJECTIVE: The purpose of SWEG is to provide a forum for discussing current e-government issues. In particular we want to help new researchers to move into the international research community by providing a forum for new, emerging research. This workshop is, as previous SWEG workshops, dedicated to open discussions about the current status of eGovernment research and future directions. However, we particulary welcome contributions dealing with what may be called “eGovernment 2.0”, which usually is taken to include integration and organizational changes, uses of new “2.0” technology, and user (e-)participation. While the first ten years of eGovernment by and large can be said to have been dedicated to e-services we have now come to a point when governments across the globe is more concerned with interoperability across borders, departmental as well as regional and national. A recent World Bank2 report describes the current state of the art from an institutional perspectives as:
A recent much discussed report from McKinsey3 suggest the following main tasks for eGovernment 2.0 as:
Against this background, this workshop in particular welcomes contributions dealing with how eGovernment should, is, or could move towards new institutional arrangements and new ways of involving users. The focus of the workshop is informed discussion. The general objective of SIG eGovernment is to promote quality and relevance in eGovernment research, and this workshop is one in a series dedicated to discussing the most important issues today and different possible ways forward. We welcome both full research papers, research in progress, and discussion papers. Participants are asked to think of innovative ways on engaging the other participants in discussions and activities. Although power point based presentations are not excluded, we welcome innovative approaches to interaction. SUBMISSION While we welcome full research papers, research in progress, and discussion papers, we particularly welcome discussion papers. Such papers should be a max 1500 words (approx. 4 pages), and should clearly and distinctly address one or more issues pertinent to eGovernment research including research methods and quality as well as focus of studies. Full papers should be max 5000 words while research in progress should be max 3000 word. Irrespective of the form, all submissions should be designed to support in-depth discussions of one of these issues during the workshop. For the workshop papers will be clustered and each session will discuss a small set of papers focusing on similar or related issues. File Format for papers: pdf. Review: Each submission will be reviewed by the workshop two reviewers. These will also act as discussants during the workshop.
